Wide open grasslands, Blackfeet Indian Reservation, Glacier National, Lake McDonald, Kootenai Falls, MT 56 between Troy & Noxon

One of the best pictures of the trip, IMO.  US 89 outside of Choteau MT

Heading towards Glacier National - Mountains starting to become visible.

Up and over the pass.  This one wasn't too high - somewhere about 6500 ft up. I dressed warmer than I needed to be.  There was a gathering of old cars (Model A's???).

These next few pictures are from the vista point just on the west side of the pass.  As we rode up the eastern slope the elevation / valleys were not 'huge' but when you cross over - a gargantuan valley awaits.

First, partial picture of the valley - the horizontal line is the roadway.

Notice the two horizontal lines across the rock face near the lower portion of this picture.
The lower of the two is the roadway.  The upper is a walking path.

A bit more of the valley.  One the rock face on the near left portion of the picture there was a bear and bear cub.  Too far away for the digital camera zoom but the camcorder was able to get a shot of them (frame grabs from the video are below).

Driving down - this is one section with the road and path visible in the pictures above.

More old cars...

Partway down the eastern side of Lake McDonald we pulled off to a nice way stop.

By now you might be wondering what's up with the hat?  As mentioned early on we left the car at Al's place in Sheridan.  As a gift we picked up a hat in Cody and it's making the rounds with us getting its picture taken at scenic places.  The hat, and a few prints, were mailed out as a thank you gift.

Down at the south end of Lake McDonald - at the lodge - looking north.  Get a room at the lodge - this is your view.

The lodge has a web cam that Ken knew of.  A simple quest to find it.
The box with the window mounted on the second floor.

Calling Tom (and Michelle & Cooper) who were in Jackson / Grand Teton for a few days.

This was an oddity.  The power boat pulled behind it the full chain of row and canoe boats.

Kootenai Falls
We enjoyed the fact that a train was there at the same time (just about 30 seconds behind us - I was able to get some quick video)
