Blanding Utah to Southern Utah trail

The
first day of trail with the group. Blanding UT to camp on the trail.
It's a nice weather day. The front jeep of the group stopped on the
highway shortly after the big rock cut. I didn't understand what was
happening and drove up to the first jeep for more info. A lady and
child were at the road's edge. She was carrying battery cables.
Apparently their family was camped nearby and their truck has a dead
battery. It was easy for me to make the trek to help them out. I told
her to place the jumper cables on the hood of my jeep - she was
hesitant (likely not wanting to scratch the paint) but after a second
prompt she placed them there. She told me where they were and I headed
up the road to their camp while she and her son walked. I helped the
husband get their truck running and headed back to the group. The
mother and child were still walking the road. A quick diversion that
helped them out. The group waited for me at the next large pull-out a
few miles down the highway. |

| I looked to see what this land feature is called - no success. Down at the base of this valley is where the jumper cable event was located. |
| There are a fair number of cattle on and near the road. |
| In the distance is Navajo Mountain. There's a cell tower on it so if you can see the mountain you likely have cell coverage. |
| Everyone's unloaded and ready for the trail. |
| The
Henry Mountains will be northeast of us and a visible landmark here and
there - much like the Navajo Mountain to our South / Southwest. |

The Grand Staircase is on the north side of Lake Powell / Colorado
River. Navajo Mountain is south of the San Juan River - no driving the jeep from here to either of those landmarks. |
