My
Fall 2017 Midwest trip will include an "along the way" jump to Lubbock
Texas to meet family for a weekend as well as an "around Lake Michigan"
jump. Family was getting together in Lubbock and it matched the timing
for my trip so - why not - it'd be good to get together (no photos here
- but it was time well enjoyed). The 70MPH two lane state highways in northern Texas were a joy. Land was for grazing or farming of cotton or pumpkins. Nothing much for photos until St. Louis with one shot of the Arch. Out from Illinois I made a clockwise trek around Lake Michigan. My goal was to visit some good folks in Traverse City and while I was heading up there I figured I'd also check off some ToDo items - Sheboygan & Manitowoc Wisconsin (cities that had long ago family ties), Door County Wisconsin (a destination area for fall colors - I was there on a family vacation but I was too little to have any recall.), "over the top" of Lake Michigan, a trek over the Macinack Bridge. A visit to the island is still on the list - something for a warm summer day. |

Lake Michigan looking eastward. Somewhere about Sheyboygan WI

At City Park in Kewaunee WI

Algoma, WI

A 1/2 mile of giggles. The End Of The Road for hwy 42 before it ends at the ferry at Northport WI.

A nice sunset. Possibly Ellison Bay or Sister Bay or Ephraim WI

Next day From Door County I jumped down to Green Bay and started following the coast - in the dark. I missed a fair bit of scenery. Escanaba MI was the overnight. Photos today will be of the scenic trek over the top of Lake Michigan - it was an enjoyable ride. This first was a wayside stop just north of Thompson MI

Just a tad up the road at Lakeview Park at Manistique MI

A nice rest area east of Naubinway MI

St. Helena Island

A UP specialty!

I went in search of a spot for a photo of the bridge - the eastern side with good lighting. A cemetery proved a nice photo stop.

St. Ignace

Getting ready to cross the bridge - a stop at the formal bridge view location at the north end.

Down in Traverse City I met up with some good folks and we made a few stops about the area...
